The first meeting of the new IOC Culture and Olympic Heritage Commission took place in the IOC headquarters in Lausanne, with the participation of the IOA President, Mr Isidoros Kouvelos, and the HOC President, Mr Spyros Capralos, under the presidency of the IOC member, Mr Lambis Nikolaou. The IOA action that according to the IOC President, Mr Thomas Bach, who attended the meeting, contributes significantly to the Olympic Movement, has been integrated in the IOC Culture and Olympic Heritage Commission.
Mr Isidoros Kouvelos elaborated on the educational activity of the IOA in 2015 while many members of the Commission talked positively on the exceptional work that takes place in the Academy during the last years, despite the lack of the state’s financial support.
The IOA President invited the members of the Commission to hold their next meeting at the IOA premises in Ancient Olympia.
The meeting of the Commission was the last one held under the presidency of the Greek IOC member, Mr Lambis Nikolaou, who will step down at the end of the year due to the age limit.
