The IOA President, Isidoros Kouvelos, had a significant opportunity to promote the work and the activities of the International Olympic Academy during his participation in the conference “Body2Mind” organized by the Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum.

The IOA President, Isidoros Kouvelos, had a significant opportunity to promote the work and the activities of the International Olympic Academy during his participation in the conference “Body2Mind” organized by the Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum.

Mr Kouvelos travelled to Doha together with the IOA Director, Prof. Dionyssis Gangas, in order to attend the works of the conference the aim of which was to propagate new educational initiatives in the field of Olympic Education.

Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Secretary General of the Qatar National Olympic Committee, welcomed the IOA President at their Committee’s Headquarters, and after exchanging important opinions with the IOA delegation, he expressed his wish for an honest cooperation among the two Olympic institutions. The IOA representatives presented the IOA’s work, its role in the evolution of Olympic Education as well as its goals for the imminent future.

Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, talked about the goals and the vision for sport and the modern Olympic Movement in Qatar.

Personalities of Olympism and sport participated in the Conference, such as the Special Adviser to the Secretary General of the United Nations on Sport for Development and Peace, Wilfried Lemke, the Vice-Chairperson of the International Olympic Truce Foundation, Dr Fani Palli-Petralia, the Director of the International Olympic Truce Centre, Dr Constantinos Filis, the President of the International Pierre de Coubertin Committee, Prof. Norbert Müller and the President of the International School Sport Federation, Andrea Delpin.
