The Hellenic Olympic Committee Plenary Session unanimously agreed during their last meeting to nominate Mr Isidoros Kouvelos as Chef de Mission of the Greek team for the “Rio 2016” Olympic Games.

The Hellenic Olympic Committee Plenary Session unanimously agreed during their last meeting to nominate Mr Isidoros Kouvelos as Chef de Mission of the Greek team for the “Rio 2016” Olympic Games. It is the third time that the IOA President and HOC Plenary Session Member will be the Chef de Mission for Greece at the Olympic Games, after the “Beijing 2008” and the “London 2012” Games.

Regarding his nomination as Chef de Mission, Mr Isidoros Kouvelos stated that “it is a great honour for me to be the Chef of Mission for the Greek team in the greatest athletic event for the third consecutive time. I would like to thank my colleagues at the Hellenic Olympic Committee for their trust and also underline that having a sense of responsibility, I will do my best for the most worthy representation of our country at the Olympic Games of Rio de Janeiro. The aim of the Greek team is to honour the country with the behavior and attitude of all the members of the team and that all of us are proved to be worthy continuators of the Olympic and cultural legacy of our ancestors”.

Moreover, the HOC Plenary Session decided to continue the granting of the premises in Ancient Olympia to the International Olympic Academy until 2020.
