Colleen English is an Associate Professor of Kinesiology at Penn State Berks. She teaches courses related to the philosophical and historical foundations of sport and physical activity, particularly those classes aimed at students pursuing careers in professions related to health and physical activity. Her research focuses on similar topics, specifically on gender in sport, cultural understandings of femininity and masculinity and how they influence competition and meaningful sport, the history of women’s sport participation, and the history of roller derby. Her recent publications can be found in the Journal of the Philosophy of Sport, Sport, Ethics and Philosophy, Sport in Society, and the International Journal of the History of Sport. Additionally, Colleen has previously served on the Executive Committees for both the International Association for the Philosophy of Sport and the North American Society for Sport History.
