Prof. Fan Hong

Fan Hong is Professor of Sports Studies at Shanghai University of Sport (SUS) and Bangor University, UK. She is Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and European Academy of Science and Arts.

 

Professor Fan Hong received her PhD at Strathclyde University in UK. After her graduation in 1995 she worked as full professor, PhD supervisor, and head of the school at De Montfort University (UK); National University of Ireland – Cork (UCC), University of Western Australia (UWA), and Bangor University(BU) in UK from 1995 to 2020.  She is currently Executive and Deputy Director of the Institute of Olympic Studies and Research of SUS.  

 

Her research interests are in the areas of Olympic Studies, sport history, gender, policy and organisations, cross-cultural studies and Asian studies. She is author or editor of more than 30 books and published over 70 refereed articles and book chapters in English and Chinese. She is the President of the Asian-Pacific Association of Sport Studies (APASS), Editor in Chief of the Asian Journal of Sport History and Culture, an editorial board member of the International Journal of Sport Policies and Politics, and Sport Encyclopaedia. She was the member of WADA Ethics and Education Committee and Chair of the Research Sub-committee between 2001 and 2004.
