The IOC Vice-President, Ser Miang Ng, together with the Director of the IOC Corporate Events and Services Department, Panos Tzivanidis and the IOA President, Isidoros Kouvelos, visited on Monday June 14, 2021 the IOA premises in Ancient Olympia for the final inspection of the renovation works that have been taking place at the IOA premises for the last one and a half year with the financial support of the IOC.
During the tour around the Academy, the works completed so far were presented. Namely, the total renovation of the rooms, the restaurant facilities, the conference rooms, the library and the sports facilities. Among the important works being done at the IOA premises is the creation of a filtering and desalination unit for drinking water, the renovation of the sewerage system, the creation of a biological treatment system and the total upgrade of the external lighting.
The IOC representatives were totally satisfied with the result of the renovation that will give a new impetus to the IOA and they expressed very flattering comments regarding the progress of this significant project.
The biggest part of the renovation has already been completed in accordance with the contractual obligation and the final delivery of the project is expected by early September.
The inauguration of the new premises will take place on October 17, in the presence of the President of the Hellenic Republic, Ms Katerina Sakellaropoulou and the IOC President, Dr Thomas Bach.
