International Sport Media and Journalism Seminar in Riyadh
The International Sport Media and Journalism Seminar was conducted from 7 to 9 January in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia organized by the Saudi Olympic Academy and the International Olympic Academy, within the groundwork plan of the IOA to reinforce the educational role of the NOAs and provide productive synergies with the NOAs, creating the conditions for high level educational opportunities worldwide.
This new programme, with the support ofthe Saudi Media Federation and the AIPS has been meticulously crafted to equip the participants with a diverse array of skills essential for modern sports journalism.
Reporting and analysis methods, ethical standards, social media and artificial intelligence, the art of insightful commentary as well as the broadcast production and the Olympic Games were the focal points, ensuring that the approximately 90 sport journalists received a comprehensive education that meets the demands of the ever-evolving media landscape, especially in the beginning of a very important Olympic year.
The IOA President, Isidoros Kouvelos, focus on the significance of this initiative, has stated: “This educational programme stands as a testament to our belief in the transformative power of education.Through this collaboration, we seek not only to enhance the skills of futuresports journalists but also to cultivate a deeper understanding of the role sports play in our society.
It is an opportunity to instill a sense of responsibility and integrity in journalism, aligning with the fundamental principles of the Olympic Movement”.
On 14 January, another important step is being put forward, with the launching of the CEO and Directors Leadership programme, which is addressed to senior leaders of the Saudi Olympic andParalympic Committee, the National Federations and affiliated organizations of Saudi Arabia.
