The International Olympic Academy participates in ISSA Session and 13th General Assembly in Tirana, consolidating a new cooperation between the two institutions.

The International Olympic Academy participated in the Islamic Solidarity Sports Association’s Session and 13th General Assembly held in Tirana, Albania. This landmark event, with the presence of HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal and HH Prince Fahad bin Jalawi Al Saud, brought together prominent leaders, experts, and representatives from the Islamic sports community to discuss key topics regarding the sports cooperation amongst the Islamic state members which are eventually going to shape the future of sports in these countries.

Highlighting the IOA’s dedication to fostering collaboration and advancing the Values of Olympism, the IOA Director, Dr Makis Asimakopoulos took part in a high-profile panel discussion titled "Thriving Through Cooperation", emphasizing the IOA’s role in integrating innovation, education, and research into sports development across diverse cultural and geographic contexts, through joint tailored educational programmes.

The IOA’s participation builds on the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the ISSA last October, marking a shared commitment to elevate the quality of education and training for athletes, coaches, and sports professionals by pooling expertise and resources and fostering international cooperation in order to act as a unifying force for humanity and a vehicle for positive change.
