Not even the pandemic can bend the Olympic spirit that runs through the Young Participants’ Session which will run its 61st edition online from 17 to 23 September 2021 and which will bring together 84 young people from 58 countries, 44 female and 40 male, in order to share, to learn and to connect with each other.
The special topic of this year’s Session is “Olympic Games and the Pandemic: Opportunities, Challenges and Changes”.
The Session will be transmitted live through the IOA platform that was created last year especially for the needs of the IOA sessions that had to be organised online because of the pandemic.
The lecturers of the Session are: Mr Spyros Capralos (Greece), Prof. Bruce Kidd (Canada), Dr Verena Burk (Germany), Prof. Naofumi Masumoto (Japan), Dr Angela Schneider (Canada), Mrs Tania Braga (BRA) and Mr Antonios Tsapatakis (Greece). They all come from various backgrounds, each being an expert in their field, but at the same time they are all connected through their love and dedication to the Olympic Movement.
The programme of the 61st Session has been enriched with a variety of extracurricular activities that vary from virtual workouts to social meetings and from arts workshops to cultural meetings. The timeline of the programme is adapted so as to accommodate our international participants that live on every continent of the world and the Session offers simultaneous interpretation in English and French.
