The IOA mourns at the passing of the Taekwondo Olympic Medallist, Alexandros Nikolaidis

The International Olympic Academy expresses its profound grief at the passing of the Taekwondo Olympic Medallist, Alexandros Nikolaidis.

Alexandros didn’t excel only in his competitive performances that resulted in winning of two silver medals at the Olympic Games of Athens in 2004 and of Beijing in 2008, but he also stood out for his ethics, the principles of fair play as well as his multifaceted personality.

He leaves behind a great legacy, with the incredible competitiveness, the fighting spirit and the inherent virtues that he demonstrated and which will certainly inspire many generations of young athletes in the future.

The IOA President, Isidoros Kouvelos and the members of the IOA Ephoria, express their heartfelt condonences to the family, relatives and friends of the Greek Olympic Medallist.
