Within the framework of the International Olympic Academy’s restructuring, the adoption of joint educational programmes with the National Olympic Academies worldwide, has been put into implementation. Such development will reinforce the role of the National Academies not only at a national level but in the whole Olympic map.
In this respect, the IOA has proceeded to the commencement of a new synergy with the Saudi Olympic Academy, which has been reactivated in December 2021, under the Presidency of HE Prince Fahad Bin Jalawi Al Saud, and the management of the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Ali Oun Alzaid.
The IOA delegation, consisted of the IOA President, Isidoros Kouvelos, Dionyssis Gangas, advisor to the President and Alexandra Karaiskou, in charge of the National Olympic Academies worldwide, was present in Riyadh, from 16th to 18th March, in order to consolidate the steps forward for the development of Olympic Education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
A Symposium on the promotion of Olympic Values through the NOAs was held with the presence of officials from the Ministries of Sports and Education, Universities and Schools Federations and other state authorities of Saudi Arabia. Prof. Dionyssis Gangas made a speech on the concepts of Olympic Values and Alexandra Karaiskou, responsible for the coordination of the National Olympic Academies worldwide on the initiatives that can be expanded, in collaboration with the IOA, on the development of the Olympic Movement in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as well as the Arabic countries.
Furthermore, the signing of the MOU Agreement took place, which defines new forms of synergies with the Saudi Olympic Academy, in the context of the upcoming sport events hosting within the next years in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with the presence of officials of the Sports Movement. The IOA President, in his speech, stated “I am convinced that the cooperation between the Saudi Olympic Academy and the International Olympic Academy that commences today, will provide mutual benefits for both institutions, broadening new horizons in your initiatives for the development of sports movement, providing a solid ground for the youth of the Arabic societies”.
The IOA congratulates warmly the whole team of the Saudi Olympic Academy for their professionalism and excellent work they have been producing in order to empower the NOA’s mission in the Middle East.
