The Olympic Solidarity Commission met for the first time in IOA premises

From 17th to 19th of November, the International Olympic Academy had the honor to welcome for the first time in its premises in Ancient Olympia, the Olympic Solidarity Commission.
The IOA President, Isidoros Kouvelos was there to greet the Commission members and offered a special award to the IOC Member and Chair of the Olympic Solidarity Commission, Mr Robin Mitchell, in recognition of his devotion and work for the Olympic Movement.

On the day of the Olympic Solidarity Commission meeting, the IOC President, Thomas Bach, opened the works of the Commission virtually, giving his wishes for a successful session and exchanged with the Commission members on several topics of interest.
The members of the Olympic Solidarity Commission also had the opportunity to dive into the culture of ancient Greece and the history of the Olympic Games by visiting the archaeological site and the museum of Ancient Olympia, as well as the Pierre de Coubertin stele which is located in the IOA premises.
We hope that they enjoyed their stay at the IOA and have had fruitful discussions that will benefit NOCs, athletes, coaches, administrators, and will contribute to the worldwide development of sport and the promotion of Olympic Values in today’s societies.
