The 28th International Seminar on Olympic Studies for Post-graduate Students will be held online from November 15 to November 21 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The main topic of the Seminar is: “The Olympic Games and the Olympic Movement: Past, Present and Future – An Analysis from the Historical, Philosophical and Social Perspectives” and its special topic: “Olympic Movement and the Pandemic”.

The IOA Honorary Dean, Prof. Dr Konstantinos Georgiadis who will supervise the works of the Seminar, welcomed and introduced the lecturers and participants.

Eminent academic personalities will give lectures during the Seminar, namely:  Prof. Dr Christian Wacker (GER), President of the ISOH, Prof. Dr Angela Schneider (CAN), Director of the International Centre for Olympic Studies, Prof. Dr Patrick Clastres (FRA), Professor of Sports History at the University of Lausanne, Dr Adrianna Banio (POL), Assistant Professor at the University of Szczecin in Poland, Dr Mateusz Rozmiarek (POL), Chairman of the Youth Section of the NOA of Poland and Prof. Dr Jan Tolleneer (BEL), Professor in sports history, comparative studies and applied ethics at KU Leuven.

This year, the 2/3 of the participants are PhD students and apart from attending the daily lessons, they will also participate in working groups and present their papers on contemporary scientific issues related to the Olympic Movement. In addition to their academic duties, students will also participate in social and cultural activities.
