Qatar

The Olympic Academy of Qatar is responsible for spreading the Olympic values and developing sports in Qatar and the surrounding region by annually organizing around 30 different sessions broken down into workshops, seminars, courses, Master's programme.

Among other things, for the 12th year in a row, Qatar Olympic Academy had organized the “Advanced Sports Management Course” during the period from September 2018 to March 2019 in seven sessions, which targeted sports federations managers, sports club managers and staff, former athletes, and individuals who are willing to change their careers. The 12th version of the programme was rich with diversity because of the different backgrounds of the 38 participants.The first version of the action "Preparation of Sports Psychologists" was set as two levels. It started with the basic level of the program (17-21 March 2019), which included an introduction to sports psychology and how to diagnose common psychological issues amongst adults and youth athletes.

Heading up to the advanced level, the participants had a month before the course week to work with a sports team, in order to implement the knowledge they gained from the basic level and to write a paper and present it in the advanced level (14-18 April 2019). The Academy has partnered with the University of Qatar and the Asian Association of South Pacific Sports Psychology to organize this programme.

On October 14th, 2019, the Academy organized the “Education and Olympic Movement Development Seminar” as part of the 1st ANOC World Beach Games held in Doha, Qatar. The Seminar hosted experienced speakers in discussed aspects of education, hosting mega events, and promoting the Olympic movement in the globe.

Speakers at the seminar were HE Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, former Secretary General of the Olympic Committee of Qatar, James Macleod, Director of Olympic Solidarity, Husain Al- Musallam, Director General of the Olympic Council of Asia, Jan Paterson, Managing Director of the British Olympic Foundation and Director of Olympic Relations at the British Olympic Association.
